The Origins of Costurero Real
In June 2008, Costurero Real was just a small blog.
At that time, I was studying for a master's degree in costume design for film and theater in Barcelona, and I used that space to share class projects, sketches, collaborations, and personal creations. Little by little, it became a kind of archive where I kept everything I made and dreamed of creating one day.
I didn't have a business plan, nor did I imagine that many years later it would end up becoming my full-time profession. I simply enjoyed designing fantasy costumes and telling stories through clothes.
I still keep many of the notebooks from that time, full of drawings, fabric samples, and characters that, one way or another, would end up forming part of the Costurero Real universe.
Arthurian Legends
In 2009, I designed my first collection, inspired by Arthurian legends. I created several dresses based on characters from medieval literature and mythology, trying to capture the atmosphere of those stories that had accompanied me since childhood.

Folktales
Shortly after, a second collection inspired by folktales arrived, with dresses dedicated to Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and other classic characters.

Some of those pieces found new homes many years ago; others are still carefully stored in the workshop, almost two decades later.
Over time, the first custom orders began to arrive. At first, they were mostly dresses for medieval weddings, fantasy events, shows, or photo shoots. For many years, Costurero Real grew thanks to one-off commissions made for specific people and special occasions.
The first workshop
Years later, I opened our Etsy shop. For a long time, Costurero Real was just me, working alone in a small workshop surrounded by fabrics, ribbons, sketches, and piles of unfinished ideas.
Seventeen years later
Over the years, that small space slowly grew to become the atelier it is today.
Today, in addition to designing costumes inspired by nature, folklore, and forgotten tales, we also organize creative workshops, immersive experiences, and gatherings to share our little fantasy universe with others.
Looking back at these old photographs, I realized that, although many things have changed, the heart of the project remains the same.
Costurero Real has always been about creating garments and experiences for people who want a little more magic in their daily lives.
